Danielle’s Fruit Salad for multiple people

Oh Fruity!

My typical go to salad is a simple lettuce, beetroot and peppers for a simple salad alongside a meal and often add a dash of medium peri-peri sauce to add more flavour if needed.

But I do love a fruit salad as a snack or simple meal, you can add it to yoghurt or porridge too!
This was a simple fruit salad I made this week and had ready in the fridge if I wanted to grab something. I also had bananas on hand if I wanted to add them in, but they wouldn’t keep too well cut up in the fridge.
This contained Strawberries, Red grapes, Pear and Clementines 😋

I tend to either have fruit or vegetable salads, I rarely mix the two, but there are so many fantastic combinations you can try and many enjoy…

Salad

Google’s definition of a salad: a cold dish of various mixtures of raw or cooked vegetables, usually seasoned with oil, vinegar, or other dressing and sometimes accompanied by meat, fish, or other ingredients.

There are loads of different salads you can order when you go to some restaurants. I wonder how many you’ve tried or if you’ve made your own. Salads don’t have to be boring, I think many people assume it is just veg (and tomatoes)
It would be a great way of using up some of the fridge items that may have a short shelf life but you can mix in some tinned items to add something extra.

Tasty salads to try…

Duck, oranges, radishes, pistachio nuts and greens.
A great mix of meaty, sweet, citrus, nutty with a bit of spice.

Figs, walnuts, cheese (feta or blue cheese works well) rocket.
Another fruity, nutty choice, but more peppery and with dairy.

Parma Ham, peach, cheese, greens and croutons.
For more of a rustic crunchy salad.

Some other ingredients to consider

Consider using the other ingredients in different mixes and even cut them up differently can change the visual and texture of the food… cut it into stripes or chunks, grate them, shred them, spiralise them, get inventive…
