  • Scissors
  • Decoration

We have a fir tree in our front garden, so my first thought was to use the fir tree for my base of my wreath.
I also would like to re-use it for Christmas and fir will last for ages.

STAGE 1:

Collect some moss to go around the hoop, luckily we have loads on our garden so I just raked it in, then let it dry out.  Once it is dry, grab some string and wrap the string around the hoop with the moss intertwined.

STAGE 2:

Get a base, I used fir twigs, leaves.  Place them through the string and keep going around the hoop.

STAGE 3:

Decorations, I made a felt poppy, you could add more, or some red ribbon or more red berries. To make the poppy, cut out four circles, fold them in half, then again into a quarter.  Sew the end point and then start the next petal and sew them together until you have done four petals.  Sew the black button into the middle.  I used the thread and needle to then sew it onto the wreath.  If you don’t want fir to decorate the base you could make loads of poppies to attach to the wreath.  To easily attach the poppies, I would insert a thin wire in the middle before the button is sewed on, then the wire can be used to pierce through the moss.

The Ode.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
We will remember them.
