Town council explains its plan for the Millenium Circle
FOLLOWING yesterday’s news that Thame Town Council intends to provide a round, seated planter on the Millenium Circle in the High Street, it has today expanded on its decision.
In a statement today, the council said: “Constructed in 1999 to mark the Millennium, the Circle gives the area an identity similar to Buttermarket or Swan Walk. It was hoped that a statue or piece of street furniture could be installed there, but unfortunately there was not sufficient money available at the time.
“There has been a marked increase in the number of people using this paved area for parking, which is both spoiling the town environment and starting to damage the paving.
“The intention is that the planter will enhance this area of the town, attracting people and ultimately stopping illegal parking on the area.”
