17/11/11….Fire service saves the day after bizarre dome fire
AN Architectural reclamation showroom, based at The Thee Pigeons, near Thame, are recovering this evening after a bizaare fire that could have ruined their business.
What started out as a relatively simple task of welding a weather-vane back on to the top of the Osney Grange bell tower, ended with two fire engines and a dozen fire fighters arriving on the scene.
The problem was that sparks slipped down a small collar at the apex of the dome and ignited a century?s worth of tinder dry straw between the copper roof and the timber roof of the building.
Wasting no time in reassuring worried customers who had heard about the fire, Lassco’s blogged the full story on their website this evening.
