17/11/11……Thame pupils sing ‘ Last Night of the Proms’
PUPILS from a Thame primary school performed at one of the most famous English venues in the world recently, when they took part in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.
On November 9, fifteen children from St Joseph?s school took part in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall. Singing Oxania, a choral work composed especially for the Prom by John Traill, Director of Music, St Anne’s College, and Lecturer at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, the pupils were part of a 500-strong massed choir of children from primary schools all over Oxfordshire.
The performance was the culmination of weeks of rehearsals led by Mrs Moran and Miss Dyer. The children had a marvellous time at the Prom itself, enjoying performances by groups, choirs and orchestras from all over the country as well as performing their own piece and joining in with the traditional ?Last Night of the Proms?.
“It was an unforgettable experience for both the children and their families, who had travelled down to London to see the performance,” said Andrew Cattell on behalf of St Joseph’s school.
