A world-class Porche racing driver was today found guilty of causing the death of a Thame teenager by dangerous driving.

Sam Edwards, 26, of Marsh, near Aylesbury, was given a prison sentence of five years and disqualified from driving for eight years.

The court heard how Edwards’ dangerous overtaking caused a Ford Fiesta being driven towards him by 19 year old Greg Stiles, to veer off the Kingsey Road, Thame, in May last year, and crash into a vehicle travelling behind Edwards.

Edwards was second in the world in the 2008 Porche Carrera World Championship. He is a professional HGV driver.

In sentencing Edwards, the judge took into consideration a previous conviction in November 2004 when he was found guilty of dangerous driving and violent disorder.
