FOR the second year in a row the Thame CPM 10km road race was run in tropical conditions. After last year, extra drinks stations were sited along the course for grateful runners.

Despite the heat, 825 runners completed the course in a race won by Charlie May of Vale of Aylesbury, in 33:33. The first lady home was Samantha Amend of Belgrave Harriers in a time of 37:16.

Notable Thame winners included George Anderson as Fastest Thame Resident, with CPM winning the corporate team prize.

Thame Runners, the organisers of the race, which is sponsored by CPM, wishes to thank all the volunteers and helpers who made the event possible as well as the residents of Thame for having some roads closed during the event. Annual surplus profit of the race goes to local Thame charities.

Greg Searle, the GB Olympic rower making his comeback for 2012, who is also sponsored by CPM, was on hand to lend the prize giving a true celebrity sports appeal.
