Advice for drivers planning long journeys in the wintry conditions

THE Police have issued advice to drivers planning to make long journeys over the next few days, to take extra care.

The general advice is for people to check snow reports particularly ahead of long journeys. Always consider whether the journey is essential. If a journey is not essential then don?t make it.

If a journey is made, having a mobile phone, warm clothing and a full tank of fuel is always important ahead of making the journey. Moderate your speed and pay particular attention to effective braking and stopping distance and take particular care coming up to junctions.
