WELL over a ton of unwanted tools was recently collected in Thame town centre, when local people people cleared out their attics and garages to promote self-reliance in Africa.

The tools will be taken to the very well equipped depot at Netley Marsh where they will be refurbished by a group of retired engineers before being packed into containers for shipment to African countries.

From the port of arrival they will be taken by members of the organisation to villages to help the people become more self reliant. Particularly valuable are hand sewing machines.

If you find any more tools which you have no further use for (but not electrical or gardening) please contact 01844 215287 before 24th July and The Rotary Club of Thame, who organised the event, will arrange collection.
