Successful year for Thame Rotary Club
THE annual changeover of President of The Rotary Club of Thame took place on Wednesday (24/06/09) at the
Spread Eagle Hotel, their Headquarters, and the retiring President, Marius Ciortan was able to report a very successful year.
Many activities were undertaken, he reported, supporting local charities, in particular two matching grants from district for the Thomley Activity Centre and Thame Girl Guides, sponsorship and provision of a stall at the Thame and Oxfordshire Show and other successful fund raising events.
In particular there was a successful drive to recruit new members.
Peter Todd, who has been a Rotarian for seven years, became the new President. He is a local, semi retired businessman from Tetsworth who dedicates his spare time to volunteering and fundraising in the local community.
Peter Todd himself said: “I am delighted to become the new president of our great club which was founded over 40 years ago. It?s going to be a very exciting year. We?re hoping to try out a lot of new things and are looking for inspired and enthusiastic men
and women to join our club. We have a lot of fun and really enjoy ourselves, on top of all the fundraising we do, and we would love to hear from anyone interested in joining us and making a real difference to their community.”
His primary interest remains in furthering the contribution that Rotary can make to the local and International community through fundraising for worthy charities and participating in hands-on community projects.
