FOLLOWING the huge success of Persuasion and Far From The Madding Crowd, The Dorset Corset Theatre Company are proud to launch their adaptation of Jane Austen?s gripping gothic satire Northanger Abbey, touring across the south this autumn.
Local actor, Jonathan Niton, returns to his roots this autumn where he will be playing love interest Henry Tilney, in Northanger Abbey in Henley and Thame.

Jonathan was born in Reading and grew up in Sonning where his love of theatre was ignited. He took a keen interest in drama, often performing in amateur plays, such as The Lady?s Not For Burning at the Kenton Theatre in Henley. On leaving Reading Bluecoat School, Jonathan travelled round Australia for a year before joining the prestigious Webber Douglas drama school in London. On graduating last year, he played Captain Troy in Dorset Corset Theatre Company?s production of Far From The Madding Crowd. ?It was great to work with such an exciting company, and it was wonderful to return to my old stomping ground and play at the Kenton and the Players in Thame?. Since then, Jonathan has been a regular feature at the Mill in Sonning, performing in three plays, most recently Plaza Suite directed by Anthony Valentine.

And when Dorset Corset came knocking again this autumn, Jonathan jumped at the chance to do a bit of Jane Austen. ?The writing is wonderful and I?m pleased that this adaptation remains faithful to the original. After last year?s tour, expectations are high, but I?m sure we?ll more than match them.?
Northanger Abbey can be seen locally at the Players Theatre, Thame on the 18th October and at the Kenton Theatre, Henley on the 25th October. For tickets ring 0871 222 7232 (Thame), 01491 575698 (Henley).
