WITH the exception of John Hampden Primary School, all the other schools in Thame were closed today because of the wintry conditions, so many children were able to enjoy a second ‘snow day’,  just like these youngsters enjoying one of the few slopes on Sunday, in Thame, near Lord Williams’s Upper School.

Thanks to Anna Lawler for this delightful image. All the schools are aiming to open tomorrow (Tuesday, December 12) but keep an eye on LINK HERE for updates.

SODC are telling residents to keep their bins out for three days, if they are not collected on the due date. Some streets may not have their bins collected because icy conditions on some roads may prevent the two-tonne trucks getting to every street. Most streets in Thame were collected today (Monday, December 11)

DUE to icy conditions, Thame and District Day Centre will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday December 12. The Centre manager, Gill Coleman said: “We need to consider the safety of our volunteer drivers and our clients. Stay safe and warm everyone.”

A Road Traffic incident at the Aylesbury Road roundabout on the A418 in Thame, at around 5.30pm, has now been cleared. It was reported that two cars and a van were involved and that there were no serious injuries. The roundabout was closed earlier and congestion in the area built up but the area is now cleared and traffic moving normally.

Thame Town Council’s team were out last night clearing snow from the Upper High Street ready for the Tuesday Market to move in.

THE district councils stated policy to work with the cycling infrastructure charity, SUSTRANS to identify gaps in the provision of cycle routes and how the council could support improvements, has not happened because their is no funding. South Oxfordshire District Council has the policy in its Corporate Plan 2016 – 2020, but its own Scrutiny Committee was told about the lack of action at its recent meeting.

The Scrutiny committee was also told that the district council was not expected to reach its recycling target of 70% by 2020, though it is ‘on track’ to be in the national top ten local authorities.

SODC’s Corporate Delivery Plan will now goes to full Cabinet in February 2018.
