THAME United’s grounds are officially some of the best in its league, after Paul Kuhn was recently awarded Runner Up in the National Awards for FA Groundsman of the Year 2014.

groundsman (400x364)Paul was presented with his Runner Up National Award for FA Step five & six clubs, at St Georges Park, the English FA National Football Centre, by Head Groundsman at St Georges Park, Alan Ferguson, who acknowledged the fantastic work undertaken by Paul for maintaining the 23 acre site at Meadow View Park

Thame Football Partnership’s General Manager, Frank Thompson, said: “We’ve always been proud of the playing surfaces here and most visiting teams make a point of congratulating us on their excellent condition, regardless of the time of year or the weather conditions.

“But for the local and then national FA to recognise us and in particular, Paul for his hard work and dedication to the game, is a fantastic achievement and having taken possession of some new Kubota machinery recently, he is already planning on being in the running for next year’s awards.”

Local judging took place earlier in the Year with West Ham’s Head Groundsman a visitor to the ASM Stadium, before Paul was shortlisted for the Awards.
