Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with our friends every week \u2013 having fun, playing games, working in a team, and taking on new challenges.<\/p>\n
Every week Oxfordshire Scouts gives nearly 7,000 6- to 25-year-olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge, and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.<\/p>\n
<\/em><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_3,2_3″ _builder_version=”4.8.1″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%” custom_padding=”||10px|0px||”][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.8.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/www.thame.net\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Cubs-on-raft.png” alt=”Thame scouts group volunteering” title_text=”Cubs on raft” _builder_version=”4.8.1″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%” custom_margin=”|1px||||”][\/et_pb_image][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”2_3″ _builder_version=”4.8.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%”]<\/p>\n With fun and exciting programmes of activities and adventures, it\u2019s no surprise that\u00a0Scouts has been shown to be good for young people but it\u2019s just as good for our volunteers too!\u00a0<\/p>\n All our activities are run by volunteers – they shape young people\u2019s lives for the better and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.\u00a0Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds. You don\u2019t need to have been a Scout or know how to put up a tent.\u00a0<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.8.1″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” width=”100%” custom_padding=”||0px|||”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.25″ custom_padding=”|||” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”]<\/p>\n Wendy, lead volunteer for Oxfordshire says:<\/p>\n ‘It’s incredibly rewarding seeing young people gain skills for life and confidence whilst having fun on activities and adventures. We\u2019re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers, minibus drivers, Zoom navigators, fundraisers and treasurers.
