Thursday 4th May, local elections, will be the first time votes are expected to take photo ID with them to polling stations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Local elections aren\u2019t the only type of election needing photo ID from now on. The same will apply to Local elections, Police and Crime Commissioner elections, UK parliamentary by-elections and recall petitions.<\/span> And from October 2023, the same will also apply to general elections.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t have the right photo ID then you can still vote but you\u2019ll need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline for applications is 5PM on 25th April. What are we voting for on May 4th?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Residents of Thame will be voting in 8 Councillors in each ward – Thame North and Thame South – which will total 16 Councillors. We\u2019ll also be voting in 3 District Councillors to represent Thame within the South Oxfordshire District Council.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Who are the candidates for May 2023 local elections in Thame?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidates will be listed on the SODC website from 4pm on Wednesday 4th April.<\/span><\/p>\n

When will the results be announced?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Results will be listed on SODC\u2019s website after the count which happens on Friday 5th May<\/span><\/p>\n

Does my ID need to be in date?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Out-of-date documents can be used if the photo still looks like you.<\/span><\/p>\n

How many types of ID do I need to take with me?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You only need to show one form of ID but it must be the original document.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
