Thame Art Crawl aims to celebrate the local art scene in and around Thame. It is focused around an annual event that takes place during the third week of October when local businesses give over parts of their window to host a pop-up gallery showcasing Artists work.

Thame Art Crawl

The vision of the event is to increase opportunity for artists to exhibit, and people to enjoy, the visual arts in Thame – whilst also boosting footfall to the town. It usually runs alongside Thame’s Arts and Literature Festival

We are specifically interested in showcasing artists who are based in South Oxfordshire and it’s surrounds. We welcome applications from both emerging or established artists, professional or amateur. As spaces are limited they are not allocated on a first come first served basis but are curated to suit the space and in consultation with the shop owners displaying the work. We prioritise applicants who have a strong portfolio with a good breadth of work, that shows their commitment to their personal development as an artist.

Volunteer with Thame Art Crawl

  • Website updates: need to be able to use or willing to learn how to use Word Press. Training provided. Most work through months of May – October.
  • PR: able to write press releases in the run up to and beyond the event.
  • Graphic design. Design posters and flyers to a strict timeline in order to meet deadlines. Currently done using Canva, but could be more than this.
  • Event logistics: short term role during week of event itself – helping to deliver equipment and gather it back in.

No experience is needed for any of the roles except Graphic design – although if willing to learn Canva this can be developed. Word press knowledge is useful, but as long as you are a confident user of IT systems and willing to learn this is very straightforward.

Why volunteer with Thame Art Crawl

Be part of a team who work closely together to put on the event. Potentially learn new skills in Canva and Word Press. Great experience of event running.
