As the new year unfolds, Thame residents have something delicious to look forward to this spring: Taste of Thame — the town’s much-loved celebration of local food and drink — is officially back on Saturday 24 May 2026!
There was lots of discussion when the food festival moved to the showground – people missed a food event in the town centre. And even more people missed having a free event to attend. Well, Taste of Thame is starting to fill that gap!
What Taste of Thame is all about
Taste of Thame is an annual, free-to-attend food and drink trail that transforms the centre of Thame into a vibrant showcase of local flavours, producers and hospitality talent. There are various events running throughout the town and lots of great local collaborations happening.
The heart of the event is the Buttermarket Banquet — one long communal table running the length of the Buttermarket where people can sit, savour and enjoy the produce they’ve collected on the trail, all while soaking up the lively atmosphere with friends and family. And yes, bunting will be involved.
There is something for everyone of all ages and tastes. It’s a great event to discover local food producers and also get to know some of your fellow Thame residents. Food is a great way to bond with neighbours, friends and family.
Save the date
Saturday 24 May 2026 — the town centre will come alive with food tastings, workshops, demonstrations, and welcoming local venues offering special treats just for the trail.
Local residents are encouraged to explore independent cafés, restaurants, pubs and producers across Thame — all taking part in this community celebration of food, drink and local enterprise.
