The Thame Community Larder is a pop-up hub where anyone can access surplus food from supermarkets and farms. Access is not means tested and anyone can join as a member. But to support this service – we need volunteers!
About Thame Community Larder

The Larder runs 50 weeks of the year from Christchurch in the Upper High Street and is open every Thursday from 2.30pm – 4.30pm including a Community Cafe.
There is a small joining fee of £10 then a weekly charge of £3.50 for individuals and £7 for families which can be paid by Direct Debit. The weekly fee means you can pop along to the Larder and select from a range of chilled and ambient items – including wonderful fruit, veg, bread and often eggs. Individuals can select 10 items, and families can select 20, and on top of that free fruit and vegetables.
Volunteering with Thame Community Larder
Can you help with…
- Delivering food parcels to the local area (Thame and surrounding villages)
- Packing food parcels ready for delivery
- Managing food stock at a store within Thame
- Collecting surplus food from Waitrose 15 minutes before closing and dropping off at the Lader food store in Thame
- Helping to set up and run the Thursday sessions at Christchurch
Skills
If you want to help with deliveries or transport of goods then you will need a driving licence and your own car. No particular skills are needed to support the Thursday afternoon sessions but a friendly disposition is useful as we like to talk to our members and make them feel welcome.
