10/06/13…..WANTED: Chinnor RFC Players old and new to celebrate
CHINNOR RFC, which is based in Thame, is 50 years-old this year, and is holding a celebration dinner for around 200 people, on September 14, in a marquee at the Kingsey Road ground.
Club spokesperson, Carol Bradbrook Taylor, said: ” The diner is intended as the major celebration of the club?s 50 year existence. We are hoping that we will get in excess of 200 people there, comprising current and past members and players. Partners are of course welcome.
“There will be an air of formality which will be kept to a minimum in respect of the after dinner speeches but we will try and maximise the chat time afterwards so that people can mingle, but hopefully we will manage to get over a feeling of the clubs past.
“We have tried to keep the ticket price as low as possible and the more people that attend the better chance of the night making a small profit. It is not intended as a fundraiser and just a raffle will be held.
“The President of the RFU has confirmed attendance and he will be the principal speaker. John Howell MP is also booked as well as the Paul Murphy, President of the Oxfordshire RFU. Other local dignitaries have been invited. The most important thing however is that we get as many members from throughout the Clubs history to attend.”
