22/12/10….Warning to dog walkers after missing woman’s body found
FOLLOWING three incidents recently where the Fire and Rescue Service have been called out to rescue a dog that had fallen through thin ice, dog owners are being warned about the dangers of thin ice.
Just this afternoon, a woman’s body, believed to be that of a missing Oxford woman, and that of her dog, have been found by police divers in the River Cherwell.
CM Woodward from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Often the ice seems thicker than people expect and can be very unpredictable.” The general advice is:
? Please do not attempt to enter the Ice to Rescue your animal
? Please keep the dog on a lead when walking them near know iced water courses
? Call the Fire and Rescue ASAP and give the best location details possible.
