Thame school “Sends a Smile” to India
THE PUPILS of St Joseph?s Catholic Primary School in Thame have sent 161 smiles to children in India, through the Blue Peter ?Send a Smile? appeal.
The children enjoyed a variety of activities designed to raise their awareness of the kind of difficulties experienced by a child who is born with a cleft palate, where no medical help is provided.
Years six and two worked together to create their own T shirt designs finishing with a fashion parade, and Year five pupils created their own television ?Smile Appeal? programme which was broadcast during an assembly for parents.
Head teacher, Mrs Claire Kerr, said: “The work for the Appeal has given us all an opportunity to learn together about children in other countries whilst doing something to help them at the same time. I am very proud of our pupils and their families.”
