Following a selection process involving all the parishes in the Haddenham, Cuddington, Kingsey and Aston Sandford Benefice, it has been announced that the new Priest-in-charge will be the Rev Margot R
Hodson, who is currently Chaplain of Jesus College, Oxford.
Having read Geography at the University of Bristol, where she gained both a BSc and a PGCE, she taught geography in comprehensive schools, before leaving to study at All Nations Christian College. She worked
in Jewish/Christian relations before training for ordination through the St. Albans and Oxford Ministry Course and holds a BA in Theology with Religious Studies from Oxford Brookes University.

Margot served her curacy at Grove Parish Church, near Wantage, before moving on to Jesus College, where she has led a student chapel – encouraging Christian
students in their faith – and been responsible for pastoral care for everyone in the College whatever their background and beliefs.

Margot is married to Dr Martin J Hodson, Visiting Researcher in Environmental Biology, Oxford Brookes University and she shares with him active interests in faith and the environment. She is a director of the John Ray Initiative (JRI), an educational charity with a vision to bring together scientific and Christian understanding of the environment in a way that can be widely communicated and lead to
effective action.

The Hodsons are both members of Sage, Oxford’s
Christian Environmental Group and are joint authors of a recent book, Cherishing the Earth, how to care for God’s Creation (Oxford: Monarch, 2008).

Margot is expected to take up her appointment during the first quarter of 2009 and, as she is very ecumenical, is looking forward to working with Churches Together in Haddenham.
