Good News All Round For Thame United
THAME United striker, Nathan Jack, scooped the top award of Premier League Player of the Season at the Hellenic League awards evening last Friday, June 1, held in Oxford.
Jack, who scored over twenty goals for Thame United last season, received the award following votes cast by all opposing teams across the course of the season. The award completes a hat-trick for Jack, who also received the Players Player and Managers Player of the Season awards at the Thame United awards evening last month.
The award is all the more significant given that it followed a difficult season for Thame and with fierce competition from a number of more experienced players.
Guest speaker at the awards evening was FA Premier League referee and former commercial manager at Thame United, Dermot Gallacher.
GROUNDSHARE AGREEMENT 2007/08
Thame United’s groundshare agreement with AFC Wallingford has been extended for another year. Chairman of Thame United, Jake Collinge, said: “We have a very good relationship with all the Committee Members at AFC Wallingford, particularly Chairman Gerry O?Garr, and the continuation of the Agreement is very much a product of that relationship. The facilities will be one of the best in the League and resolving the matter swiftly enables us to concentrate on returning Thame United to Thame through the work of the Thame Football Partnership. I would, however, like to express my great thanks to Gerry and all at AFC Wallingford for their on-going support.”
PRE-SEASON FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
Thame United have accepted an invitation to a four-team tournament at Witney United on the weekend of 4/5 August. The matches, which will be played at Witney United, will include a semi-final on Saturday 4th August with the 3rd/4th place play off and final on Sunday 5th August.
In addition to Thame United and Witney United, Southern League side Abingdon United and Wessex Division 1 side Tadley Calleva will be competing in the tournament. The tournament will provide useful match practice in advance of the season kick-off on 12th August.
