OXFORDSHIRE County Council has teamed up with Dorset-based care provider, Agincare, to provide a shopping service to vulnerable people across the county.

Unlike normal delivery services, Agincare?s shopping service staff will not only take orders, buy and deliver goods, they will also put them away and let the council know if one of the people they are visiting appears unwell or in need of assistance.

Agincare, which has been operating for more than 15 years and covers the south of England, was chosen by the County Council following a competitive tender. It now has an office in the Culham Science Centre, Abingdon.

Oxfordshire County Councillor Jim Couchman, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: ?A home shopping service like this is of great benefit to people who can?t get out. It assists some of the vulnerable adults that we serve to stay living in their own homes for longer.?
