THE next Thame Concert Jazz Gig is on Wednesday 13th December, at Thame Snooker Club, St Andrews Court,Wellington Street, Thame, and will feature The Jo Caleb Quartet.
Organiser, ‘Jazz Eddie’ Says: “Jo is an outstanding young seven-string guitarist leads his own Quartet – intellectual, inspired and refreshingly creative. The extra bass string allows him to add a warm depth to his music, but its undoubtedly the result of his attentive ear, creative chordal playing and considerate accompanying skills. As a band leader, Jo performs with his quartet, preferring the expressive environment frequently associated with the smaller jazz.”
“Stan Sulzmann Saxophone, is without question one of the most highly respected musicians in the UK today, admired by musicians and audiences for his instantly recognisable sound, and boundless creative imagination, and is a source of inspiration to many of Britain’s emerging young musicians.
Phil Donkin Bassist from Sunderland now lives in London where he played alongside – Gwilym Simcock, Ivo Neame, Martin France, Graeme Blevins, Paul Booth, Julian Siegel, Gareth Lockrane, etc”
“Seb Roachford, Drums, this Aberdonian has a musical background that explains much of his group Polar Bear’s eclectic sound. “I first started playing drums along to Prince and Grace Jones records,” he says. Later he discovered jazz, and subsequently shared a teacher with orchestral percussionist Evelyn Glennie.”
