Rare Triplets Calves Doing Fine
TRIPLET calves, born on a farm near Thame last week, are doing fine, according the man who helped them into the world.
Colin Anderson, a tractor driver at North Weston Farm, was called out at 4am on Saturday, July 29, to attend to a cow that was in labour, because the regular Herdsman was on holiday.
“The cow had given birth to twins and I was very surprised to then see a pair of feet on the way!” said Colin, a former herdsman himself.
The mother is coping well and the two heiffers and a bullock are flourishing.
Triplet calves, especially live births, are very rare and this is the first time in 20 years that anyone at North Weston has seen such a birth.
