Busy year nearing its end for Thame Bowls club

NEARING the end of the Bowls season Thame Bowls Club continues to flourish in what has been a very busy year. Thame Ladies kept up their winning ways when they visited Aylesbury Town winning by 11 clear shots. Top Rink was that of Wendy Rawson, Ladies Captain Maire Duncan and skip Doreen Penn who won by 25 shots to 9.

Saturday’s game at home to Waddesdon was a very close match. Thame’s mixed team of 5 Triples managed to win on 3 of the 5 Rinks but lost overall to the visitors by just 18 shots. Top Rink for Thame was led by skip Mike Smith who won by 21 shots to 12. Paul Heafey and Club Captain John Timms were Thame’s other winning skips.

On Sunday Thame’s Mixed team welcomed visitors Chessvale, Chesham and this time Thame proved too strong for their opponents. The final score over the 5 Rinks was 118 shots to Thame against 75 shots. Top Rink was led by Team Captain Ron Duncan at skip, with Viv Jones, Jim Tite and Marthie DuPreez contributing to a 30 shots to 7 victory.
